Dipannita Biswas was born 1st May 1985 in Murshidabad West Bengal. She completed her Graduation in Painting from Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University 2007 and Post Graduation in Painting from the same university 2009 She has participated in several group exhibitions and received numerous national scholarships. Dipannita articulates her imagination in a fairly autobiographical mode where self representation works as an anchoring force to the objects and events that matter in modern India.  Through her own persona and the images in the canvas she seeks to redefine women’s place in society;  in particular the modern woman who seeks to break free from the confines of body to  consciously display her political and intellectual power.  She uses the canvas as a magazine cover but the viewer is alerted to the content which talks to the new era for women. 

An era which is politically charged realistically based and openly challenging of the more idealized and personalized boundaries which have been applied when representing women in the public domain. The quality of preservation and resonant meaning is also important, since she takes meticulous care to place each and every object in a space which is to be felt and nurtured rather than simply seen. The very involvement with objects also takes her to explore the possibilities of working them out in new mediums, which leads to some very interesting experimentation. Throughout her work is engendered with care and sensibility which conveys the understanding, hope and perceptive depth of the artist and the world she inhabits.
