Manoj Sinha was born in Tripura 29th April 1971. He completed his Graduation and Post Graduation from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.University, Vadodara in 2003 and 2005. Manoj is a recipient of several awards and has done shows throughout India. His canvases are complex, with a myriad range of images that relate to us on varying levels of experience. Many of his works are autobiographical in nature, like pages of a personal album where moments are frozen forever. But Manoj’s works go much beyond the realm of documentation. They are about an archive that is lived, memorized and often retouched or altered. The quality of alteration is important in this context, since he introduces characters who are performers, who assume different roles through the strategy of masquerade. Since many of his works tend to comment on the socio-religious scenario around him, these characters form a strong part of his vision. They act as units of a structure that he aims to critique, and they also show the helplessness of a citizen subject.

Manoj’s visual field is panoramic and ambitious-like an epic being told. A personal epic which captures the feelings absorbed by the artist and a political/religious epic which captures the sequence of events in the world around us. The artist has the capacity to capture with detail and meticulous care the conscious and unconscious elements in the narrative which is unfolding.
