Srikanta was born 26 August 1971 in West Bengal. He studied for his Bachelor’s degree from the Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata 1998; He followed this with a Masters degree in Print-making from Faculty of Fine Arts at the M.S. University in Baroda2001. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout India and exhibitions in the international arena. His work is detailed and exquisite. He draws from multiple sources around him to absorb events and throughout applies in equal measure a philosophical as well as an emotional lens to his work. His subject matter draws from history, politics, satire rituals and mythology. The figures in his work have the emotional aftermath of events etched on their faces. He uses different media in a bold and experimental manner to convey the emotive range; He constantly tries to stretch the boundaries with his use of the full genre of materials, taking his painting and graphics to new levels and possibilities.
